Box Score It was a beautiful afternoon for field hockey on Sunday, but it was visiting McDaniel that enjoyed the contest more, taking a 4-1 decision from Eastern Mennonite in Harrisonburg.
The Green Terror showed no ill effects from playing at Roanoke the previous day, scoring in the 14th minute and then again five minutes later.
McDaniel controlled the second half and put in two more goals for a 4-0 lead with less than 10 minutes to play.
Freshman Jenessa Derstine (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock) scored her first collegiate goal in the final minute to provide the final score.
Goalie Mary Beth Danaher (Matoaca, VA/Matoaca) made a handful of great saves and finished the game with six. EMU was out-shot 18-5 overall and 10-2 on goal.
The loss drops the Lady Royals to 1-3 as they continue their homestand this week by hosting St. Mary's at 4:00pm on Wednesday.
