RALEIGH, NC - EMU wrapped up its non-conference slate on Saturday, heading to North Carolina to take on Meredith College.
The Avenging Angels used three first quarter goals and rode a strong defensive effort, to a 5-0 win over the Royals.
Records: EMU 0-13, 0-4 ODAC | Meredith 7-7
Highlights
- Meredith scored their first goal in the fifth minute, taking a 1-0 lead early on. They added two more in the period, in the 12th and 15th minutes, respectively, taking a 3-0 lead after one.
- The Royals defense held MC to just one shot on goal in the second quarter, which was stopped by Emma Huante, as Meredith took a 3-0 lead into the half.
- Eve Detter had EMU's first shot on goal in the 34th minute, but it was saved by the Avenging Angels keeper to keep EMU off the board. Huante added four more saves in the quarter, but Meredith scored an insurance goal with just six seconds left in the quarter.
- Huante stood on her head in the fourth, allowing just one goal while picking up nine saves. Unfortunately for the Royals, the Meredith defense was stingy, holding the Royals without a shot in the fourth, to secure the shutout.
