Sarah Roth (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) scored the game winning goal in the 54th minute as the Eastern Mennonite University field hockey team moved to 11-5 overall on the year with a 1-0 decision over St. Mary's (Md.) College Tuesday afternoon.

St. Mary's falls to 7-8 on the season. They are 5-1 in the Capital Athletic Conference.

EMU out-shot St. Mary's 8-4 in the first period but was unable to get on the board as Seahawks goalkeeper Emma Lauhoff had a pair of saves to keep the Lady Royals at bay.

Lauhoff finished with six saves.

Midway through the second period the visiting team was finally able to get on the board as Roth notched her third goal of the season to put EMU up 1-0.

Becky Nolt (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) and the EMU defense held from there as Nolt registered two saves to perserve the shut-out.

The Lady Royals had a 5-2 margin in penalty corners over the Seahawks.

EMU will now wrap-up the remainder of the 2008 regular season at home as they host Old Dominion Athletic Conference foe Randolph-Macon on Friday, October 24, at 6 p.m.
