JACKSON, MS.- The Royals women's cross country team wrapped up the 2024 season on Saturday, taking on the field at the 2024 NCAA South Region Championships.
Junior
Elili Asefa was the top finisher for the Royals, with a 53rd-place finish in the 169 woman field. As a team, EMU was 11th, scoring 305 points.
Fellow ODAC school Washington and Lee took home the team title with 38 points while Olivia Warr of W&L won the individual region title, crossing the finish line in 21:34.70.

Highlights – Women's 6k
- Asefa finished the 6k course with a time of 24:06.56, which was 18 seconds off her PR, which she set on October 19 at the Roanoke Invitational.
- Just four spots behind Asefa was first-year Lauren Kauffman. She crossed the finish line in 57th place with a time of 24:19.59.
- Erin Loker was three spots behind Kauffman, finishing in 60th place and logging a time of 24:24.40.
- The Royals fourth scorer was Jenna Weaver, who wrapped up her EMU cross country career with a 74th place finish in 25:06.32.
- Three places behind Weaver was Halie Mast. She logged the course in 25:09.34, which got her 77th overall.
- Rounding out the entries for EMU was Zoe Clymer in 147th place and Ella Richer in 149th.
What's Next
This wraps up the 2024 cross country season for the Royals. The XC team will now focus their attention on the indoor track & field season, which kicks off on Dec. 5 and 6 at the Liberty Kickoff.
