HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Track & Field team welcomed the best of the best in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) to the EMU Track & Field Complex on Friday for the first day of the two-day ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
On the women's side, day one for the Royals featured three point-scoring performances from three different student-athletes:
Elili Asefa in the 3000m steeplechase,
Lauren Kauffman in the 10k, and
Faith Schultz in the high jump.

Highlights
- SPRINTS
- 100m Dash (Prelims): CJ Jefferson registered a new personal record time of 13.97 to place 19th.
- 200m Dash (Prelims): Jefferson completed a double PR day by clocking in at 29.07
- 400m Hurdles (Prelims): Asefa qualified for the final by finishing seventh in a time of 1:11.74.
- DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
- 3000m Steeplechase: Asefa scored three points for the Royals with a sixth-place finish, completing the unique event in a time of 12:35.71.
- 10000m Run: In the longest event of the meet, Kauffman ran a new PR of 40:13.48, a 14-second improvement from previous best. Kauffman remains ninth in EMU history in the 10k.
- JUMPS
- High Jump: Schultz cleared the bar at 1.42m (4'7.75") to come home in seventh place.
- Long Jump: Angel David led the way for the Royals with a mark of 4.88m (16'0.25") to place 13th.
- THROWS
- Hammer: Emma Greer achieved a 10th-place finish with a new personal record of 39.14m (128'5"). Lily Gatesman also set a personal best throw of 34.65m (113'-8") to come in 19th place.
- Shot Put: Addison Shanholtz threw a season best mark of 9.81m (32'2.25") to finish 18th.
- Javelin: Gatesman turned in a PR effort in the javelin, finishing 12th with a throw of 23.49m (77'0").

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude tomorrow, Saturday, April 26th, right on campus at the EMU Track & Field Complex. The first field events begin at 9:30 a.m., while the running events will commence at 1 p.m.
