PENN LAIRD, Va. – The athletes of EMU Track & Field did not have to go far for one final tune-up meet for the indoor season, heading to the other side of Harrisonburg for the Rockingham Collegiate Classic, hosted by Bridgewater College.
Da'Shawn Winters continued his exceptional indoor season, winning the long jump and moving up to second in EMU history in the 60-meter dash.

- SPRINTS
- 60m Dash: Winters qualified for the final and finished in sixth place with a time of 7.03, a new personal best that moved the junior from Richmond up to second in EMU history for the 60m, behind school record Alijah Johnson (6.98).
- 200m Dash: Jameel Vann represented the Royals in this event, sprinting one lap of the track in 23.91 to finish 14th.
- 400m Dash: Josh Joseph placed 11th overall in a time of 55.02.
- 60m Hurdles: Filipo Toelau took home the runner-up spot in 8.23, while teammate Shaddai Bailey ran a new PR of 8.65 to claim fourth place.
- DISTANCE
- 800m Run: Alex Belisle led the pack of Royals in the 800m, clocking in at 2:13.49.
- Mile Run: For the second meet in a row, Ethan Kanagy ran a new PR for the mile, this time completing eight laps of the indoor track in 4:44.70.
- 3000m Run: Ben Huyard placed ninth in a time of 10:17.79.
- JUMPS
- High Jump: Ahsan Abul-Qasim placed seventh overall, clearing the bar at 1.85m (6'0.75").
- Long Jump: Winters leapt 6.62m (21'8.5") on his winning jump, beating runner-up Mason Mandis of Washington & Lee by .08 of a meter.
- THROWS
- Shot Put: Sila Bates was the top Royal in the shot put, going 12.18m (39'11.5") on his best throw of the day for ninth place overall.
- Weight Throw: Mathew Lawson finished 17th with a mark of 9.31m (30'6.5").

Conference championships will be on the line when EMU Track & Field heads to the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1. Saturday's field events begin at 12 p.m., followed by running events at 3:30 p.m. in the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College in Salem, Va.
