Six Men’s Track & Field Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All-South Region Outdoor Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) unveiled their list of Division III All-Region honorees for the 2026 outdoor season on Tuesday. Six athletes from the EMU Men's Track & Field team have earned the title of All-South Region in one or more events, per a release published on the USTFCCCA website on Tuesday afternoon. The top-eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end performance lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-eight relay teams.

Koran Rucker, a first-year from Philadelphia, paced the Royals with three All-Region distinctions, most notably as the top South Region athlete in both the discus and the hammer. Rucker was also third in the South Region for the shot put. This adds to Rucker's decorated first year in Harrisonburg that included three EMU school records, two ODAC Championships, USTFCCCA All-South Region indoor honors, and 15 event wins across the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Ahsan Abul-Qasim, a first-year from Front Royal, Va., ended the outdoor season ranked fifth in the South Region for the long jump. His best mark of 7.17m (23'6.25") vaulted up to third in school history for the outdoor long jump, trailing only co-record holders Jim Herr and Michael Allen (7.26m/23'10"). Abul-Qasim also was a part of the Royals' 4x400m relay team that came in eighth in the South Region and third at the ODAC Outdoor Championships.

Nick Arnold, a junior from Greensboro, N.C., made the cut for All-South Region as an individual in the 400-meter hurdles as well as for being the anchor leg on the 4x400m relay. Arnold slotted into fourth place in the South Region for the 400m hurdles with a new personal record time of 53.46, good for fifth in EMU history.

Filipo Toelau, a first-year from Harrisonburg, was among the South Region's best in the 110-meter hurdles, ranking fourth in the event. Toelau also set the EMU school record for the event, clocking in at 14.59 at the Liberty Twilight on May 6 to surpass the previous record of 14.61, set by Adam Starks back in 2003.

Josh Joseph, a first-year from Suffolk, Va., and Da'Shawn Winters, a junior from Richmond, Va., both earned their All-South Region honors as part of the 4x400m relay that posted a time of 3:19.46 at the Washington & Lee Carnival on March 20. That time was good for third in EMU history for the outdoor 4x400m relay.
