CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The EMU Track & Field team's quest to qualify for nationals took them outside the state of Virginia on Saturday, with four men's athletes representing the Royals in the Lee Last Chance Meet, hosted by Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn.
Highlights
- HURDLES
- 110m Hurdles: Filipo Toelau finished fourth with a time of 14.59, equaling the EMU school record that he set at Liberty University on Wednesday.
- 400m Hurdles: Nick Arnold also placed fourth in his hurdle event, going one lap of the track in 54.44.
- JUMPS
- Long Jump: Ahsan Abul-Qasim took ninth, landing in the sand pit at 6.37m (20'10.75") on his best effort of the day.
- THROWS
- Discus: Koran Rucker made the podium with a third-place showing and a mark of 49.53m (162'6").
- Hammer: Rucker added another third-place effort in the hammer, turning in a best throw of 51.79m (169'11").
- Shot Put: Rucker picked up the 14th event win of his first year with the Royals in the shot put. His winning throw came on his second attempt of the day, landing at 15.87m (52'0.75").
What's Next
The Royals will now head to Pennsylvania for the Widener Final Qualifier in Chester, Pa., taking place this Monday, May 11. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
