MIDLOTHIAN, Va.- The EMU Women's Triathlon team loaded up their gear and headed to the Richmond area Sunday morning to participate in the NCAA Collegiate Cup event at the Robious Landing Triathlon in Robious Landing Park. Triathletes from several college teams from the Division I, Division II and Division III levels took to the course, which consisted of a 750-meter swim, a 20k (12.1 miles) bike ride, and a 5k (3.1 miles) run.
It was a great day to be a Royal as all four EMU triathletes in the race turned in their fastest times ever for the collegiate sprint triathlon.
Regina Michel Camacho of Queens University of Charlotte won the race with a cumulative time of 56:07.82.
Highlights
- Zoe Clymer, a junior from Collinsville, Miss., went the distance in 1:09:13.9 to finished 41st.
- Juliette Soos, a first-year from Orlando, Fla., came in right behind Clymer in 42nd place with a time of 1:09:21.34.
- Daisy Buller and Sarah Wheeler finished 49th and 54th, respectively. Buller, a senior from Newton, Kan., crossed the finish line in 1:12:31.97, while Wheeler, a junior from Hudson, Mich., traversed the course in 1:15:42.35.
What's Next
EMU Women's Triathlon will be the home team this Saturday, Oct. 4 for the EMU Scrimmage at Westover Park in Harrisonburg. This will be the Royals' final tuneup for the NCAA East Region Qualifier on Saturday, Oct. 25 in Troutman, N.C.
