WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – EMU Track & Field continued its progress through the outdoor track & field regular season slate, bringing athletes to the prestigious Colonial Relays, hosted by the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.

The Royal men brought a group of sprinters and throwers to the former state capital of Virginia this weekend, and they acquitted themselves well against a deep field of competitors. Most notably, the 4x200m relay team of
Damon Morgan,
Da'Shawn Winters,
Isaiah Reid, and
Nick Arnold set a new school record time of 1:28.90.
Highlights
- RELAYS
- 4x200m Relay: In addition to the school record, the relay team finished an impressive third overall, beating out teams from Division I programs Longwood, Old Dominion, William & Mary, and Wagner as well as Division II program Lock Haven.
- SPRINTS
- 100m Dash: Morgan was the top Royal, crossing the line in a time of 11.28, followed by Arnold, who clocked in at 11.49.
- 200m Dash: Morgan sprinted his way to a time of 22.52.
- 400m Dash: Winters led a trio of Royals in this event, sprinting one lap of the track in a collegiate personal best of 51.91.
- THROWS
- Discus: Mathew Lawson set a personal record mark of 26.23m (86'-1"), finishing 26th.
- Hammer:Â Will Ramos got the meet started for EMU with a mark of 26.84m.
- Javelin: Lawson represented the Royals in the javelin, with his best throw of the meet going 27.17m (89'-1.5").
- Shot Put: Lawson and Ramos also competed in the shot put, turning in throws of 8.98m and 7.81m, respectively.
What's Next
The EMU Track & Field team will host the EMU Heritage Invitational, their first home meet at the brand new on-campus track & field complex, on Friday, April 11. The first events of the day are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
