HARRISONBURG, Va. – The EMU Track & Field team entertained the rest of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference on Friday, hosting Day 1 of the ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at their brand new on-campus venue.
Bellamy Immanuel, a senior distance runner from Allentown, Pa., had the highlight of the day for the Royal men. In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Immanuel took silver medal honors with a second-place finish, trailing only the event champion Cooper Hurst of Lynchburg.
Immanuel's runner-up performance accounted for all eight of EMU's points in the opening day of competition.

Highlights
- SPRINTS
- 100m Dash (Prelims): Isaiah Reid and Damon Morgan finished ninth and 10th respectively, just falling short of advancing to finals. Da'Shawn Winters established a new personal record of 11.03.
- 110m Hurdles (Prelims): Shaddai Bailey placed sixth in a time of 15.74 to successfully advance to tomorrow's final.
- DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
- 10,000m Run: Luke Buckwalter achieved a new PR of 36:27.75 to finish 19th. Charlie O'Neil placed right behind him in 20th in 38:11.61.
- 3000m Steeplechase: Immanuel crossed the finish line with a new season best time of 9:38.42 in the 7.5-lap race, just 2.68 seconds behind Hurst.
- JUMPS
- Long Jump: Da'Shawn Winters was the top Royal in this event, leaping into the sand pit at 6.31m (20'-8.5").
- THROWS
- Hammer: On his final throw, Grant Leichty heaved a big personal best of 36.06m (118'-3") on his way to an 11th-place showing. The mark topped his previous personal record by nearly three feet.
- Shot Put: Leichty threw a season best mark of 12.52m (41'-1") to place 10th overall, just one spot outside of making the finals. Mathew Lawson set a new personal record mark of 9.30m (30'-6.25").

The ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude tomorrow, Saturday, April 26th, right on campus at EMU. The first field events begin at 10 a.m., while the running events will commence at 2 p.m.
