Women’s Track & Field Wraps Up Outdoor Regular Season With Two Meets

HARRISONBURG, Va. –  The athletes of EMU Track & Field split up between two meets in two states this past weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the sprinters and jumpers head south to The Tar Heel State to compete in the Aggie Invite, hosting by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. Meanwhile, the distance runners and throwers staying in Virginia for the WildCat Invitational, hosted by Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va.
 
The women's team ended their regular season slate on a high note, headlined by a win and personal best time for Halie Mast in the 3000-meter steeplechase as well as two top-three by Aldora Tuilaepa in the throws at Randolph.  

Highlights (Aggie Invite –Greensboro, N.C.)
 
  • SPRINTS
    • 100m Dash: Nia Boyd repped the Royals with a time of 13.83.
    • 200m Dash: Boyd doubled up on sprint events in Greensboro, completing the 200 in 29.67.
    • 400m Dash: Angel David sprinted a lap of the track in 1:05.10.
Highlights (WildCat Invitational – Lynchburg, Va.)
  • SPRINTS
    • 400m Hurdles: Elili Asefa ran a season best time of 1:12.22 to finish fifth overall.
  • DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
    • 1500m Run: Erin Loker cracked the top 10 with a 10th-place finish and a time of 5:05.43.
    • 3000m Steeplechase: Mast's winning time was 11:53.47, nearly three seconds faster than her previous personal best. Asefa completed a Royals 1-2 finish in the event, completing 7.5 laps of the track in 12:13.17 to claim the runner-up spot.
  • THROWS
    • Discus: Tuilaepa took home runner-up honors with a personal best throw of 37.97m (124'-7"). Lily Gatesman also set a personal record in the event, throwing a mark of 26.86m (88'-1").
    • Hammer: Tuilaepa took her second podium finish of the meet by placing third. Her best throw of the day landed at 42.83m (140'-6").
    • Shot Put: The Royals had two top-10 finishers in this event. Tuilaepa finished eighth with a PR throw of 9.87m (32'-4.75"), while Emma Greer finished 10th with a mark of 8.93m (29'-3.75").
 
What's Next
The EMU Track & Field team will play host to the entire ODAC for the 2025 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
