Men’s Track & Field Finishes Final Meets Before ODAC Championships

HARRISONBURG, Va. –  The athletes of EMU Track & Field split up between two meets in two states this past weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the sprinters and jumpers head south to The Tar Heel State to compete in the Aggie Invite, hosting by North Carolina A&T in Greensboro, N.C. Meanwhile, the distance runners and throwers staying in Virginia for the WildCat Invitational, hosted by Randolph College in Lynchburg, Va.
 
The men's team will go into the ODAC Championships with positive momentum thanks to several personal best performances in both meets.

Highlights (Aggie Invite –Greensboro, N.C.)
  • SPRINTS
    • 100m Dash: Da'Shawn Winters set a new personal record of 11.04.
    • 110m Hurdles: Shaddai Bailey set a significant PR, crossing the line in 14th place with a time of 15.71.
    • 200m Dash: Damon Morgan was the top Royal in this event, completing half a lap of the track in 22.35.
    • 400m Dash: Nick Arnold finished 21st, sprinting one lap in exactly 50 seconds. Jameel Vann set a new PR time of 54.59.
    • 400m Hurdles: Arnold placed 11th overall in 56.89. Bailey finished 15th, clocking in at 1:01.96 in his first time running the 400m hurdles.
Highlights (WildCat Invitational – Lynchburg, Va.)
  • SPRINTS
    • 200m Dash: Micah Mast placed 10th with a new personal best time of 23.04.
  • DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
    • 800m Run: Bellamy Immanuel made the podium with a third-place finish in a time of 1:55.96. Abenezer Abebe set a personal record time of 1:57.92, good for eighth overall.
    • 1500m Run: Ethan Kanagy led the Royals in this event, breaking his personal record with a time of 4:28.56.
    • 5000m Run: Charlie O'Neil represented the Royals in the longest event of the meet, finishing 10th in a time of 19:33.36.
  • JUMPS
    • Pole Vault: Mast cleared the bar at 3.75m (12'-3.5") to bring home a fifth-place finish.
  • THROWS
    • Discus: Grant Leichty heaved a personal best throw of 38.89m (127'-7") to place fourth overall.
    • Hammer: Will Ramos was the top Royal in the hammer, throwing a mark of 26.16m (85'-10") to finish 13th.
    • Shot Put: Leichty took third overall with a throw of 11.85m (38'-10.5").                        
What's Next
The EMU Track & Field team will play host to the entire ODAC for the 2025 ODAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday and Saturday, April 25-26.
