Baseball 2025 Season Preview

HARRISONBURG, Va.- It is almost time for EMU Baseball to step into the batter's box to commence their 2025 campaign. Here is a brief look ahead at what to expect this spring for the Diamond Royals.

Head Coach: Adam Posey – Sixth Season

2024 in Review
EMU Baseball faced some tough sledding in 2024, losing their final 10 games to finish with a 10-26 record on the season. There were some highlights for the Royals, most notably season sweeps of ODAC foes Ferrum and Washington & Lee. In the second game against W&L, Damen Tapscott threw a complete game shutout in the Royals' 9-0 victory over the Generals, earning ODAC Pitcher of the Week. The team also had two players receive all-conference honors, with Nick Arnold and Alex Gulisano both being named to the All-ODAC Third Team.

Outlook: The Diamond Royals appear to be strong at the plate, returning several key hitters from a 2024 team that finished second in the ODAC in batting average, hitting .309 on the season. The lineup will receive another boost with the addition of Lynchburg transfer Josh Gjormand, a career .321 hitter for the ODAC rival Hornets. The Royals will look improve on the mound after finishing last in the ODAC with a 10.03 ERA in 2024.Tapscott figures to lead the way as a regular starter, while Keenan Fulwood also brings back a lot of experience on the bump.
