Men’s Track & Field Tunes Up For ODACS With Two Out-of-State Meets

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The athletes of EMU Track & Field got in their final tune-ups before the ODAC Indoor Championships, splitting it up between two meets outside of Virginia. A group of sprinters and jumpers traveled to the Bucknell Tune Up in Lewisburg, Pa., on Friday, while other Royals took part in the Larry Sharpe Memorial Invite in Hagerstown, Md. In total, five EMU athletes ended the indoor regular season with an event win.

Highlights – Bucknell Tune Up
Men
  • SPRINTS
    • Damon Morgan won the 200-meter dash, completing one lap of the track in a time of 22.64 seconds.
    • Shaddai Bailey made the final of the 60-meter hurdles, where he finished sixth in a personal best time of 9.24.
  • JUMPS
    • Da'Shawn Winters, Bryson Hunter, and Brendan Apger teamed up to place fourth (6.43m/21'-1.25"), fifth (6.42m/21'-0.75"), and sixth (6.41m/21'-0.5") in the long jump, respectively.
Women
  • SPRINTS
    • Faith Schultz set a collegiate personal best of 30.11 in the 200m.
  • JUMPS
    • Angel David finished fourth in the triple jump with a best mark of 10.64m (34'-11").
    • Schultz and David both set personal records in the long jump. Schultz leapt 5.03m (16'-6") to finish sixth, with David right behind her in seventh with a PR jump of 5.02 m (16'-5.75").

Men
  • DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
    • Jansen Miller picked up first place in the mile run, crossing the line in a time of 4:52.43.
    • Bellamy Immanuel came home third in the 800m with a time of 2:00.63.

  • JUMPS
    • Micah Mast mustered fourth place in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a height of 3.64m (11'-11.25").
  • THROWS
    • Grant Leichty led the fleet of Royal throwers in the shot put, landing the implement at 11.31m (37'-1.25").
Women
  • DISTANCE/MID-DISTANCE
    • Elili Asefa emerged victorious in the 800-meter run, breaking the tape in a time of 2:30.47.
    • Jenna Weaver kept up her late-season surge with a win in the 3000-meter run, clocking in at 10:54.76 as well as a runner-up placement in the mile run with a time of 5:42.69.
  • SPRINTS
    • Sha'Dymon Blanton beat the competition in the 55-meter hurdles in a PR time of 9.21 seconds.
    • Nia Boyd enjoyed a double-PR day, setting new personal bests in the 60m (8.56) and 200m (31.04).
  • THROWS
    • Kate Landis achieved a PR in the shot put, with a best throw of 9.50m (31'-2") to place second overall.
What's Next
The EMU Track & Field team will rejoin forces for the biggest meet of the indoor season: the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The meet will be hosted by Roanoke College in Salem, Va., on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 24-25.
