Six Men’s Track & Field Athletes Earn USTFCCCA All-South Region Indoor Honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently released their list of All-Region honorees for the 2025-26 indoor season, and six EMU Men's Track & Field athletes earned the title of All-South Region.  Per the release from the USTFCCCA, the top eight individuals in each event from each region on the year-end performance lists earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top eight relay teams.

Ahsan Abul-Qasim, a first-year from Front Royal, Va., led all Royals with three All-South Region honors. His highest region ranking came in the high jump, where he finished third with a mark of 2.01m (6'7"), trailing only the Lynchburg duo of Lamont Victoria and Jamarcus Brown. Abul-Qasim also ranked fifth in the long jump (7.06m) and was a member of the 4x400m relay team that placed seventh in the South Region.

Koran Rucker, a first-year from Philadelphia, capped off his standout indoor season with All-South Region recognition in both the shot put and the weight throw. In fact, Rucker ranked fifth in the two throwing events, getting a mark of 16.63m (54'6.75") in the weight throw and 16.03m (52'7.25") in the shot put. His weight throw also set a new EMU school record.

Nick Arnold, a junior from Greensboro, N.C., slotted into fourth place in the South Region in the 400-meter dash, clocking in at 49.49 at the Shane Stevens Winter Invitational, which converts to a 48.72 for a banked track. Arnold also served as the anchor leg for the 4x400m relay team that finished third at ODACs and seventh in the South Region.

Filipo Toelau, a first-year from Harrisonburg, was second in the South Region for the 60m hurdles, trailing only Davin Gartley of Washington & Lee. Toelau crossed the line in a time of 8.15 at the ODAC Indoor Championships, setting an EMU school record in the process.

Josh Joseph, a first-year from Suffolk, Va., and Da'Shawn Winters, a junior from Richmond, Va., rounded out the Royals' All-Region honorees by being members of the 4x400m relay at ODACs.

EMU Track & Field begins the 2026 outdoor season at the Washington & Lee Carnival this Friday and Saturday, March 20-21. The first events get underway at 11 a.m. on Friday.
