HARRISONBURG, Va. - It was an outstanding academic fall semester for our athletes here at EMU! We have 263 student-athletes and for the fall, 27 of them (10.2%) finished with a perfect 4.0 GPA. We had 70 athletes make the Dean's List with at least a 3.75 GPA and 60% (159) of our student-athletes had a 3.0 or better. 

11 of our 17 teams had a fall term GPA of 3.0 or better with three picking up a 3.5. On top of success the Triathlon team had in competition this season, they also saw tremendous success in the classroom, picking up a collective GPA of 3.81, the highest in the athletics department. They were also named a CTCA Scholar All-American Team and three students, Jessica Buckwalter, Vanessa Gardiner and Jenna Weaver, were named DIII Scholar All-Americans while Daisy Buller and Zoe Clymer earned DIII Scholar Honorable Mention.
 
The Men's and Women's Cross Country teams were also recognized, picking up USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors while Lucy Unzicker earned USTFCCCA Women's All-Academic Athlete. The Women's team (3.78) and the Men's team (3.46) had the second and third highest department GPAs as well.

Just released on Wednesday, the Royals Field Hockey Team saw seven athletes named to the NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad: Sophia Armato, Cassidy Armstrong, Hayley Collins, Rileyanne Collins, Libbie Derstine, Kate Landis and Morgan Leslie all maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher through the fall semester.  

The Baseball team, with the department's largest roster (50 athletics), had a collective GPA of 3.07.

Our total fall GPA for all 263 athletes was an outstanding 3.0. Congratulations to ALL our student-athletes for a very successful fall 2023 term.
