HARRISONBURG, Va. – On an unseasonably cool April afternoon, the EMU Baseball played host to ODAC foe Averett University for a Sunday doubleheader. It was also Senior Day for the Diamond Royals with a pregame ceremony to celebrate the Class of 2026 seniors:

Ben Knutsson,
Keenan Fulwood,
Colby Eidson,
David Joslyn,
Dylan Hall,
Trevor Selph,

The home crowd had plenty to cheer about as the Royals swept the twin bill over the Cougars by final scores of 3-1 and 11-6. With the two wins, EMU finished with an 11-11 record at home on the season, the most home wins in a single season since 2017.
Joslyn, a senior pitcher from Fairfax, had a career day on the mound, pitching a seven-inning gem in game one. Then, the Royals' bat came alive in game two, led by
Michael Duncan's home run.

Highlights
- It was a quiet start to the game as the two teams combined for just one base runner in the first two innings. That came when Rocke drew a walk in the bottom of the second inning.
- All three of EMU's runs in game one came in the third inning. The Royals began the rally with four straight base hits from Noah Sanderson, Trevor Gjormand, Hall and Miller. Then, in a thrilling sequence, Miller stole home plate while Duncan took second to complete a successful double steal. That steal made it EMU 3, Averett 0 after three.
- The pitching duel continued with no runs scored in the fourth through eighth innings. Averett did have a good chance to score in the seventh, loading the bases with two outs. But Joslyn got Luke Keister to pop out to end the threat.
- Averett did make things interesting in the ninth, breaking up the shutout with a two-out single. However, Walker Dixon got the final Averett batter to fly out to shut the door and seal the game one victory.

- The Royals answered with one run in the second inning on a Miller base hit that advanced Sanderson to third, followed by an Averett error that opened the door for Sanderson to score and make it a 3-1 ball game.
- EMU added another run in the third when Bruno belted a triple to right field, allowing Wilkinson to reach home.
- The Diamond Royals took the lead in the fourth with the power bat of Duncan, who hammered a three-run home run to left field to push EMU out front. Bruno singled to center field to bring Wilkinson home and put the Royals up 6-3.
- Averett did counter quickly with two runs in the fifth and another run in the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.

- EMU really broke away from Averett with three runs in the eighth. Bruno continued his excellent game two performance with a single to left center to bring Wilkinson home. A few batters later, Gjormand got a base hit through the left side to plate both Bruno and Jett Cabanban.
- From there, Austin Carter took the mound in the ninth, overcoming two early walks to get Landon Mitchell to ground into a game-ending double play, putting the exclamation point on the doubleheader sweep.
