SALEM, Va.- Saturday marked the beginning of the postseason for EMU Cross Country, as the runners took on the best of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) at the ODAC Cross Country Championships.
Running as a pack, the Royal women took home fifth as a team on a sunny and seasonable day at Green Hill Park in Salem, Va.
Jenna Weaver, the senior leader from Harrisonburg, led the way with a 29th-place finish and a 6k (3.73 miles) time of 23:38.5.
Olivia Warr won the individual championship with a time of 21:35.1, spearheading the Generals to the team championship with a score of 35 points, narrowly defeating Lynchburg (40 pts.).

Highlights – Women's 5k
- Team Score: 5th of 9 (132 pts.)
- Elili Asefa crossed the line not far behind Weaver, placing 32nd overall in a time of 23:50.9.
- Lauren Kauffman traversed the 6k course in 23:59, breaking the tape just one spot behind Asefa in 33rd.
- Erin Loker kept the Royal train going with a 34th-place showing and a 6k time of 24:06.6.
- In her first race of the season, Halie Mast completed the Royals' scoring five by finishing 42nd, completing the course in 24:24.2.
- Ella Richer (81st/27:40.9) and Zoe Clymer (83rd/28:05.5) also represented the Royals in the conference championship meet.
What's Next
The EMU cross country teams will turn their focus to the NCAA South Regional Championship race, taking place on Saturday, Nov. 16 in Clinton, Miss. The men's 8k will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6k at 11 a.m.
