WP: John (Ketz) Murray (1-0)
LP: Cole Wallace (0-1)
Highlights
- The Eagles were able to put runners on second and third to start the game but a strikeout from Wallace kept the game scoreless. EMU followed suit and picked up base hits from Ethan Spraker and Natty Solomon, but wouldn't push anyone across.
- UMW took a 6-0 lead as they batted around in the top of the second as Brendon Barrett replaced Wallace with just one out in the frame before he picked up a pair of outs. The Royals chipped into the lead in their half of the second as Forrest Shuey singled with one out and Logan Jones moved him to third with a base hit and a throwing error. A Logan Mason base hit plated Shuey, cutting the lead to 6-1.
- Five more runs were added to the Eagles lead in the top of the third off Barrett and Alec Riles but once again, EMU scored in their half of the inning as well. Nick Arnold led off with a double and came in to score on Solomon's two-run homerun to left.
- EMU would add one more run in the sixth as Arnold's groundout scored Jones. One in the fourth and two in the seventh for Mary Washington would prove to be the difference as EMU wouldn't score in the seventh to extend the game.
