Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - EMU and Randolph College clashed on Wednesday afternoon in a women's lacrosse matchup.
The WildCats used 13 first half goals to pull ahead en route to a 16-3 win over the Royals. EMU falls to 0-12, 0-8 ODAC.
Highlights
- Grace Hughes had the first shot of the game for either side. After a Randolph turnover and a groundball pickup from Skylar Hedgepeth, Hughes put one on goal but a nice save from the WildCat keeper kept the game scoreless.
- EMU keeper Cristal Narciso came up with four saves in the first half but a strong Randolph offense was able to pick up the 13-0 halftime lead.
- The Royals cut into the WildCat lead with three goals in the third quarter. After the Royals defense forced a Randolph shot clock violation and a successful clear attempt, Amber Bonds picked up a groundball around midfield, streaked down and beat the Randolph keeper to the bottom right corner, giving EMU their first goal of the day.
- Two and a half minutes later, with EMU playing a man up due to a Randolph green card, Hughes found KC Argueta-Rivas right in front of the goal who beat the Randolph keeper to her left, cutting the WildCat lead to 13-2.
- Courtney Crawford got in on the scoring, picking up a free position goal, once again beating the keeper to her left.
- The WildCats, however, were able to pick up three fourth-quarter goals to maintain the 13-goal win.
- Narciso finished with 14 saves in goal. Crawford's goal was her team-leading ninth of the season.
