Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Diamond Royals hosted crosstown rival Bridgewater College in a midweek ODAC battle on Tuesday.
EMU pounded out nine runs on 11 hits, but ultimately fell in the contest by a final tally of 17-9.
Highlights
- After falling into a quick 3-0 hole, the Royals answered back in the bottom frame of the first inning in front of the large home crowd. Jordan Jones kicked it off with a triple to left center, followed directly after with a double off the left field wall, scoring Jones with ease to cut into the Eagles' lead. Brett Lindsay knocked a single to left to score Lee in the next at-bat, continuing the offensive trend. After a Ray Tricarico single down the right field line, moving Lindsay to third, Natty Solomon knocked a deep fly to score the sacrifice fly.
- Falling behind again in the top of the second, the Royals put a dent in the Bridgewater lead in the bottom half. With two away, Lee reached on a catcher's interference and quickly made his way to third with a wild pitch and stolen bag. Lindsay put pressure on the Eagles' defense, legging out the second baseman's errant throw and scoring Lee.
- Tricarico knocked a two-RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth to cut into the Bridgewater lead.
- After a few scoreless frames, the Royals' bats heated up in the bottom of the eighth. After a Jones single, Lee knocked a line drive over the centerfield wall for the two-RBI shot. Tricarico later hit an RBI groundout to round out the scoring for EMU.

- Tricarico - 3-4, three RBI.
- Jones and Lindsay each had two hits in the contest.
- Karson Jennings threw three innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts.
What's Next
The Royals will take a week before hitting the diamond again. They will host Mary Baldwin in a non-conference game next Tuesday, Apr. 19 with first pitch coming at 3:00 PM.
