Box Score LAGRANGE, Ga. - The Diamond Royals finished off their three-game set at #21 LaGrange College on Sunday.
Despite leading for a majority of the game, the powerful offense of LaGrange came to life late, thwarting EMU. They fell in the final game of the series, 10-3.
Highlights
- The Royals came out of the gate hot in the first inning of the contest. After the first two EMU batters went down, a two-out rally sparked. Brett Lindsay singled, followed quickly by a Natty Solomon single, advancing Lindsay to third. Gage Riddick knocked a deep fly ball to left where the LaGrange left fielder was unable to make the play, driving in both runners and pushing the Royals out to an early 2-0 lead.
- With one away in the second inning, Ethan Spraker lined a double down the right field line. In the next at-bat, Logan Mason singled, scoring Spraker easily. A few strong at-bats didn't favor the Royals, but they went into the bottom of the second with the early lead.
- Starter Jon Sawyers settled in on the mound, tossing quality innings through five frames.
- LaGrange pushed across five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead, one they would hold until the final pitch. EMU fell in the finale by its final tally of 10-3.
