Box Score 2 LaGrange, Ga. - The Diamond Royals took a trip south for a three-game series against #21 in the nation, LaGrange College. Despite some strong showings, the Royals ultimately dropped both games of the doubleheader on Saturday.
Game One Highlights
- The first three innings were quiet, with LaGrange throwing a single run on the board in the bottom of the second. Brett Lindsay kicked off the top of the fourth with a double down the left field line, and Dylan Cassell continued his strong early season knocking him in with a drive to right.
- The Royals struggled to keep LaGrange off of the board, looking at a 8-1 deficit after five innings of play. They cut into that lead in top of the sixth after Ethan Spraker showed a strong handle of the bat, hitting the ball deep enough to leg out a potential double play, scoring Ray Tricarico easily after he walked earlier in the frame.
- The Royals could not manage to get anything going in the final frames of the contest, ultimately falling by the game's final tally of 13-2.
Game Two Highlights
- The Royals were staring down an early deficit after LaGrange put two across in the bottom of the first. Natty Solomon cut into their lead though, knocking a solo home run to lead off the top of the second inning and give the Royals life.
- EMU continued to put solid at-bats together, but were unable to get anything in motion as they dropped the second game of the day by a final score of 12-1.
By The Numbers
- Cooper Thomas had a solid showing out of the pen, pitching 3.1 strong innings only allowing two earned runs. Hunter West threw one scoreless inning in relief in the second game, striking out two.
- Brett Lindsay collected three hits on the day.

The Royals will finish out the three-game series tomorrow, with first pitch scheduled for 2:00 PM.
