The Royals' lacrosse women lost a home match against the Guilford Quakers on Saturday by a score of 18-6.

The loss pushes EMU to 1-6 overall, 0-6 in conference, with the Quakers improving to 1-1, both overall and in conference. 

The Royals put up a respectable effort in the contest. After being hit by injuries prior and during, EMU continued to fight throughout. 

The scoring kicked off in a hurry, with Guilford's Kylie Horn scoring in the second minute of the game with the assist from McCaine Brandt. 

Morgan Tricarico (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) for the Royals answered, notching an unassisted goal under a minute later to tie up the score. 

From there, Guilford cultivated a 6-1 run in the next 10 minutes of play to take 7-2 lead early on. The Quakers finished the first half on a 5-0 run whilie being up a player. 

Tricarico scored first in the second half off of a free position shot to try to begin a comeback, but the Quakers subsequently put together another hurtful run to take back the momentum. 

When time begin dwindling down, the Quakers notched two more goals in the final minutes to force the score to its final tally of 18-6. 

Tricarico had 10 shots on the day for the Royals, putting in four for goals and adding seven groundballs. 

Meghan Hickey (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) added the other two goals for the Royals. Mykenzie Davis (Lititz, Pa./Dayspring Christian) added two shots and eight draw controls. 

The Royals play their final home game of the 2021 season on wednesday, Apr. 21, hosting the Shenandoah Hornets.
