Box Score The EMU lacrosse women dropped a tight match at Randolph College, with the WildCats using a late-game comeback to defeat the visiting Royals.
EMU falls to 1-5 overall on the season, 0-5 in conference play, with Randolph improving to 3-5, 1-3 respectively.
Morgan Tricarico (Culpeper, Va./Eastern View) got the offense going for the Royals, scoring the first goal of the contest unassisted quickly in the first half.
The WildCats scored two quickly thereafter to take the lead, but Meghan Hickey (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) answered with a goal of her own to even the score back up.
After Randolph scored two more to take a two-goal lead, the Royals went on a tear. Started off by Hickey scoring three straight goals in a matter of minutes, EMU went on a 6-2 run to finish off the half, sending the contest into halftime with the Royals ahead 8-6.
EMU started the second half with offensive momentum, scoring three quick goals, two from Juliana Ghally (Aldie, Va./John Champe) in under a minute, to extend their lead to 11-6.
From there, the momentum shifted. Randolph cultivated a 8-0 run in the half to take the lead, 14-11, with about five minutes left to play.
Tricarico added two more in the final minutes of play to try to mount a comeback, but the WildCats held off the Royals and finished the game with the win, 15-13.
Hickey had another impressive performance on the offensive end for EMU, notching four goals on seven shots. Tricarico and Ghally each added three goals in the contest, with Katie Johnson collecting two.
Arianna Nixon (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) notched 13 saves on the day.
The Royals hit their home field on Saturday, Apr. 17 to take on Guilford in an ODAC contest, beginning at 2:00pm.
