Randolph-Macon Stings EMU In ODAC Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

EMU's baseball men dropped both ends of a doubleheader at No. 6 Randolph-Macon Saturday in Ashland, Va. The Royals had a hard time slowing down R-MC, who extended their winning streak to 10 games and extended their lead in the ODAC standings to two games.

The losses pushed EMU's losing skid to 10 games, dropping them to a record of 11-21 overall and 2-12 in the ODAC.

Eastern Mennonite will step out of conference play on Monday and try to break their skid by hosting Southern Virginia. Game time of the rescheduled game in Harrisonburg is 4:00pm.

Randolph-Macon 8, EMU 2
The first game was tight until the Yellow Jackets broke it open in the sixth. R-MC plated an unearned run in the first, but the Royals tied it up in their next at-bat on an RBI double from Tyler McFadden (Virginia Beach, Va./Salem).

The 1-1 tie remained until Randolph-Macon plated one run in the fifth before finally chasing starting pitcher Damon Frazier (Waynesboro, Va./Wilson Memorial) in the sixth. A one-out homerun followed by a double sent Frazier packing, but the bullpen couldn't stop the home team either, as the Yellow Jackets eventually scored four runs to go up 6-1. Two unearned runs in the seventh made it an 8-1 margin.

Jaylon Lee (Newport News, Va./Denbigh), Frazier and John Judy (Shanks, W.V./Hampshire) started the eighth with consecutive singles, with Judy's hit sending Lee home. But three straight outs snuffed out the rally and EMU's best chances to score.

Judy had two of EMU's seven hits and also drew a walk. Tyler Wilcher (Staunton, Va./Buffalo Gap) reached base twice with a single and a walk.

Frazier took the loss, tagged for three earned runs on seven hits in 5.1 innings. Spencer Laitinen (Woodbridge, Va./C.D. Hylton) threw a scoreless eighth.

Randolph-Macon 7, EMU 0
The nightcap was all Randolph-Macon, as they limited EMU to just two hits and four total baserunners. The Yellow Jackets, meanwhile, methodically scored in five of their eight at-bats to pull away.

Jacob Merica (Elkton, Va./East Rockingham) and Frazier earned the Royals' only hits, while Corey Willis (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) walked once.

Bailey Hall (Daleville, Va./James River) allowed five runs in 4.0 innings, taking the loss. Tristan Childress (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) was the most effective of EMU's four relievers, not allowing a run in 1.2 innings.
