Box Score 2 EMU's high-scoring offense ran out of steam Saturday at the wrong time, totaling just six runs in a pair of ODAC losses to Emory & Henry. Now 7-4 on the year, the baseball men head to Florida for five games next week at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla.
Emory & Henry 4, EMU 3
The men got more baserunners than the Wasps in the game one, but left nine on base. They were constantly playing from behind. Adam Posey (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) tied the game with an RBI single in the third, and Jonathan Estrada (Miami, Fla./Doral Academy) locked it up again with a sac fly in the fifth.
Emory & Henry went up 4-2 with solo homeruns in the sixth and seventh. Ryan McAlister (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) cut the lead to one with an RBI single in the seventh, but EMU left three runners on in the final two frames.
Posey and McAlister each three hits and an RBI from the 1-2 spots of the batting order. Posey also took the pitching loss, despite striking out 11 over 7.0 innings.
Emory & Henry 6, EMU 3
In the nightcap, the Wasps scored in each of the first four innings to jump to a 5-0 lead. Estrada tripled in a run, and another scored on a double play, as the Royals made it 5-2 in the sixth.
Emory & Henry added their fourth solo homer of the day in the eighth, and all EMU could muster was a two-out RBI double from Posey in the ninth.
Posey had three of the men's 13 hits, along with an RBI. McAlister, Estrada and Kyle Armstrong (Greenville, Va./Riverheads) each had a pair of hits.
Ryan Henschel (New Market, Va./Stonewall Jackson) started on the hill and gave up five runs in 4.0 innings to get the loss.
