Although the hits kept coming in the nightcap, both teams struggled to get their runners home. The Quakers scored runs in the first and second to take a 2-0 lead.
Adam Posey (Poquoson, Va./Poquoson) hit an RBI single in the fourth to cut the lead in half, but Guilford got the run right back in the top of the fifth.

The teams continued leaving runners on base until the Quakers finally put some hits together in the eighth and chased starter Jason Tate (Herndon, Va./Herndon). With the bases loaded and one run already in, EMU turned to closer Thomas Worley (Prince George, Va./Prince George), who had already pitched in game one.
Worley allowed one run to cross on a sacrifice fly, but limited the damage, leaving Guilford in front, 5-3.
