#20 Shenandoah Gains 12-2 Win Over EMU

#20 Shenandoah University improved to 27-5 overall on the year with a 12-2 baseball win over Eastern Mennonite University Thursday afternoon in Winchester, Va.
The loss drops EMU to 9-17-1 on the year.
The Royals reached base 13 times over the course of the game as the visiting team had four hits to go along with a season-high nine walks. Junior designated hitter
Daniel Martin (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) went 2-for-2 with a run scored, walking twice in the game. Junior shortstop
Aaron Martin (Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite) and
Dylan Smith (Sterling, Va./Park View) also walked twice against Hornet starting pitcher Brian Goddard.
Goddard went 6 2/3 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, while walking nine batters and striking out another nine.
Gage Levac finished out the game with 2 1/2 innings of scoreless relief.
Greg Van Sickler was the hitting star of the day for the Hornets, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBI. Jasen Eberz had three hits in four trips to the plate, scoring three times while driving in a pair.
Kyle Kilpatrick was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI in the win for SU.
The Royals will look to bounce back from this defeat on Saturday, April 11, when they take on the Tigers of Hampden-Sydney College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference double header scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
