Bridgewater College moved to 15-14-1 overall this year and 6-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference following a 10-2 decision over the Eastern Mennonite University baseball team Wednesday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.

The loss drops EMU to 7-23 on the year and 3-8 in the ODAC. EMU will look to rebound this weekend as they travel to Greensboro, N.C., for a conference double header with Guilford College beginning at 12 p.m.

Almost all the starters for EMU got at least one hit as the Royals had a total of nine hits in the game with freshman outfielder Ben Wise (Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Senior third baseman Jameson Jarvis (Culpeper, Va./Culpeper Co.) and sophomore second baseman Cody Davis (Goodview, Va./Staunton River) each drove in a run for EMU.

Brad Buracker was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI for the Eagles as Drew Elkins had two hits in five trips to the plate with a run scored and three RBIs.

Fred Duquette picked up the win for Bridgewater as the lefthander used his three-quarter delivery to keep the Royal hitters off balance through five innings. Alex Foltz pitched a perfect inning in relief, striking out three, with Drew Elkins and Michael Lenox closing out the win.

Bridgewater pushed two runs across in the top of the first inning as Elkins had an RBI groundout and Michael Lenox had a sacrifice fly, scoring Aaron Read. EMU scored a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning as sophomore Chris Baker (Winchester, Va./John Handley) came around to score on a fielder's choice.

The visiting Eagles then opened up for six runs in the fourth inning with Mike Graves and Buracker recording RBI singles and Lenox tripling to right-center field, scoring another run. BC tacked on two more runs in the top half of the eighth to ice the victory.

Drew Easter was 3-for-4 on the day for BC with Graves finishing the game going 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Each team left nine runners on base with the Royals committing three errors while the Eagles had two.

EMU will be back home on Thursday, April 10, when they host Mary Washington at 4 p.m.
