Yellow Jackets Upend Royals, 14-4

Randolph-Macon scored 14 runs, including a grand slam home run in the seventh inning, in route to a 14-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference win over the Eastern Mennonite University baseball team Tuesday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.
The Yellow Jackets remain in second place in the conference and are now 13-10 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC while EMU falls to 7-17 on the year and 3-5 in the conference.
JC Conway went 2-for-4 with four RBIs in the win for Randolph-Macon while Adam Carpenter had two hits in four trips to the plate with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Yellow Jacket starting pitcher Matt Tiller went seven strong innings to pick up the win as he allowed 10 hits and four runs, no earned, while striking out nine. Kyle Hicks and Steve Craun closed out the win for RMC.
Sophomore first baseman
Jeff Walker (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) was 3-for-4 at the plate for EMU with a double while junior outfielder
Derek Butler (Charlottesville, Va./Monticello) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Randolph-Macon opened up the game with a four spot in the top of the first as Charlie Hartt brought home three runs on a home run over the left-center field fence. The Yellow Jackets scored another run in the inning before the Royals came up to bat.
Hartt was 2-for-5 at the dish with two runs scored and three RBIs.
Sophomore designated hitter
Zach Polloni (Hatfield, Pa./Christopher Dock) got EMU on the board in the bottom half of the inning as he plated two runs on an RBI single up the middle to cut the RMC lead in half.
The visiting Yellow Jackets went on to score a run in the top of the fourth before scoring four runs in the fifth and another five runs in the seventh to ice the win.
EMU pounded out 11 hits in the game with freshman catcher
Chris Harpine (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) recorded two of those in four at bats with a run scored.
Freshman southpaw
Stewart Green (Raphine, Va./Riverheads) pitched two innings of scoreless relief for EMU, allowing only a walk while striking out one.
The Royals will now host Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, March 26, for a non-conference double header beginning at 2 p.m. The original game time was set for 3 p.m., but was pushed back to accomodate a double header to make up for the rain out on February 14.
