Walker hits Grand Slam as Royals Split Double Header with Emory & Henry

Freshman first baseman
Jeff Walker (Ellicott City, Md.) hit a grand slam home run in game one as the Eastern Mennonite University baseball split a two-game set with Emory & Henry College Saturday afternoon in Emory, Va.
The Royals are now 6-19 overall and 2-8 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference while Emory & Henry's record now stands at 5-21 overall and 3-9 in the conference.
In game one the Royals offense came to life in the top of the fifth inning as EMU plated seven runs on five hits to cruise to an 11-2 victory. Senior second baseman
Zach Hawke (Salisbury, Md.) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and drove in two runs in the inning with an RBI double.
Walker went 2-for-4 with a run scored and five RBIs including the grand slam home run in the fifth inning while sophomore
Andrew Pittman (Culpeper, Va.) was 5-for-5 with two runs.
Freshman pitcher
Jesse Baker (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked up the win by going six innings, allowing only two runs on six hits with four walks and three strike outs.
Junior
Jameson Jarvis (Culpeper, Va.) blasted a two-run home run in the top of the seventh to seal the win for EMU.
In game two, EMU fell this time to a big inning as the Wasps scored six times in the bottom of the fifth on their way to an 8-4 win. Pittman was 4-for-5 with two RBIs while senior first baseman
Chad Johns (Waynesboro, Va.) and Hawke each went 1-for-4 with an RBI for EMU.
Pittman went a combined 9-for-10 for EMU with two runs scored and two RBIs in the series.
The Royals will now return home on Tuesday, April 3, as they host Shenandoah for a non-conference match-up at 3 p.m.
