LC Cruises to Doubleheader Baseball Sweep of EMU 11-4 and 14-1

Lynchburg College pounded 32 hits en route to recording a pair of victories over Eastern Mennonite University by scores of 11-4 and 14-1 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball action on Sunday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Va.

Senior John Hines (Smithfield, Va.) was the winner in game one for LC (19-10, 6-7 ODAC) after allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings. Senior Casey Armstrong (Bristow, Va.) took the loss with nine runs allowed, six earned, on 10 hits in three and one-third innings.

Senior Lucas Jones (Lynchburg, Va.) was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI for Lynchburg. Junior Eric O'Brien (Roanoke, Va.) and senior Kevin Nichol (Moseley, Va.) each had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs, while sophomore Ronnie LaBrie (Vinton, Va.) was 20for-5 and scored a run. Nichol homered for the Hornets.

Sophomore Jameson Jarvis (Culpeper, Va.) homered and went 2-for-3, scoring twice for EMU (5-23, 1-13 ODAC). Sophomore Zachary Hawke (Salisbury, Md.) and junior Chad Johns (Waynesboro, Va.) each went 2-for-3 and drove in a run.

In the second game, 22 different players saw time in the game for the Hornets. Junior Justin Kelly (Colonial Heights, Va.) was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Seven different players had two hits each for the Hornets.

Hawke led EMU with a 2-for-3 performance in game two.

Junior Jason Kelly (Colonial Heights, Va.) earned the victory for the Hornets, allowing no runs on two hits through five innings. Junior Brandon Zollman (Lexington, Va.) took the loss with eight runs allowed on nine hits in just three innings.

EMU will travel to Bridgewater on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. contest.
