Senior Sean Sturgill powered the Roanoke College offense with two home runs in a doubleheader sweep of Eastern Mennonite University 4-2 and 8-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball action on Saturday in Salem, Va.

Sturgill (Vinton, Va.) had a double, a home run, scored twice, and drove in two runs in a 4-2 win in the first game. Junior Opey Clarke (Charlotte Co., Va.) and senior Brandon Coates (Gladys, Va.) had two hits each with Coates collecting two RBIs.

Senior Travis Andrews (Covington, Va.) limited the Royals to two runs on six hits with three strikeouts in a seven-inning complete game effort. Senior Casey Armstrong (Bristow, Va.) took the loss for EMU after allowing four runs on eight hits with five walks in four and one-third innings.

Junior Brandon Zollman (Lexington, Va.) was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a stolen base for EMU. Freshman Derek Butler (Charlottesville, Va.) was 2-for-3.

In the second game, junior Chase Davidson (Vinton, Va.) scattered nine hits over seven and one-third scoreless innings in the second game to record the victory. Senior Drew Cobb (Staunton, Va.) took the loss for EMU after allowing seven runs, six earned, and nine hits in six innings.

Senior Kirby Hamilton (Salem, Va.) was 2-for-4 and junior Anthony Hernandez (Ipswitch, Mass.) was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Junior Clint Zimmerman (Morgontown, N.C.) hit a three-run home run and Sturgill added a solo shot.

Zollman, senior Kenny Riley (Lancaster, Pa.), and senior Michael Kniss (Chicago, Ill.) each had two hits for the Royals.

EMU will continue ODAC action on Tuesday at Randolph-Macon College at 3 p.m.
