Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. – Jerry Shank (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) pitched eight scoreless innings helping Eastern Mennonite University shutout Randolph-Macon College in a conference baseball game here in Park View. EMU improved to 11-14 overall and 4-4 in conference play.

The Royals scored in the third inning as Barney Quick (Waynesboro, Va./Waynesboro) scored Cole Thornton (Massanutten, Va./Spotswood) with a single.

EMU put up five runs in the fourth inning. The Royals pounded the Yellow Jacket pitching for three straight hits to start the inning. Chuck Miller (Wellman, Ia./Iowa Mennonite) knocked in one run with a double to left center. Brad Steshoski (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) drove in the next run and Shelton Stevens (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) knocked in the third run with a seeing-eye single. Thornton finished out the break out inning with a two-run blast to left center.

Shank would keep the Yellow Jacket at bay and Quick would finish off the pitching duties in the ninth inning. The victory gives Shank his fourth of the season.

Thornton ended the game 2-for-5 with two RBI to lead EMU to victory.

Seth Rapoza (Kill Devil Hills, NC/Manteo) and Joey Crawford (Amherst, Va./Amherst) each had two hits for Randolph-Macon who dropped to 7-16 overall and 0-8 in ODAC play.

EMU will be back in action on the road taking on Frostburg State on Thursday, April 1. Game time is slated for 3:00 p.m.
