FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) recently announced its slate of weekly awards for the week of Sep. 14-20. Dennis Villalta, a first-year goalkeeper from Woodbridge, Va., has been named the ODAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, per a release from the conference office Monday afternoon.

Villalta started and played all 180 minutes in net in EMU's two games last week. In the 1-0 triumph over rival Bridgewater on Wednesday, Sept. 16, Villalta made four saves to keep the Eagles out of the net. He then followed that up with two saves and another shutout win in the 2-0 victory at Wilson on Saturday, Sept. 19. Overall, Villalta has allowed just two goals in three starts so far this season. He is currently on a streak of 220 minutes without conceding a goal.

Villalta and the rest of the EMU Men's Soccer Royals will be back home in Harrisonburg this Wednesday, Sept. 23, to do battle with the Knights of Southern Virginia University. Opening whistle at the EMU Turf Field is set for 7 p.m.
