FOREST, Va. - The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced their 2024-25 All-Academic Team and 120 Royals found themselves on the list.
EMU saw its highest number of student-athletes make the All-Academic Team in 2023-24, when 123 Royals were named. This year's 120 is the second highest total in EMU history. This also continues EMU's streak of at least 100 student-athletes being named to the academic team.
The 2024-25 ODAC All-Academic Team features 3,364 individuals, smashing the ODAC's previous record of 3,175, which was set just last season.
Washington and Lee once again led the conference, putting an impressive, and record-setting, 539 student-athletes on the list, breaking their previous mark of 537, set in 2023-24. Shenandoah University and the University of Lynchburg placed 358 and 341 student-athletes, respectively. In total, 12 schools eclipsed their all-time record for student-athletes on the Academic Team.
Eligibility for the ODAC All-Academic Team is open to any student-athlete that competes in a conference-sponsored sport, regardless of academic class. Prospective honorees must achieve at least a 3.25 grade point average for the academic year to be considered for ODAC All-Academic Team recognition.
In addition to the ODAC success, EMU saw 53 student-athletes make the Dean's List for the 2024-25 spring semester. 10 different teams had GPAs of 3.0 or better for the year and as a department of 300+ student-athletes, EMU achieved over a 3.0 GPA for the year, to wrap up an outstanding year in the classroom.
