RJ Sims is in his first year as the Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Eastern Mennonite.

Sims, a 2014 graduate of EMU, spent the last three years playing basketball professionally in Europe. A native of Fort Washington, Md., he also worked at numerous basketball clinics in the DMV area.

As the lead assistant to Head Coach Melvin Felix, Sims functions as the Director of Recruiting, Director of Player Development, and Video Coordinator.

Sims has played for successful professional teams in Lithuania and France, as well as in the United States. A two-time All-ODAC honoree during his playing days at EMU, Sims is No. 19 in EMU history with 1,186 career points. He was a three-year starter for the Runnin Royals, adding career totals of 339 rebounds, 209 assists and 150 steals.

"I am extremely excited to bring RJ onto our staff for two reasons," explained Coach Felix. "For one, he is an alumnus that knows what it takes to succeed in the league. Secondly, he has a relentless work ethic and great character to add to his basketball knowledge. To me it was a no-brainer that he will be a great asset in all levels of the program."
