WASHINGTON, D.C.- It was an early Sunday morning for EMU Women's Triathlon as they commenced their 2026 campaign in our nation's capital on the campus of Gallaudet University. Originally planned to be a sprint triathlon, the race was modified into an aquabike, with a swim of 500m in the pool followed by a six-mile bike ride through Gallaudet's urban campus.
Zoe Clymer, the senior from Meridian, Mississippi, began her final collegiate triathlon season with the victory to lead the Royals.
Highlights
- Clymer completed the aquabike race in an impressive time of 29:12. She was the only competitor with a time under 30 minutes.
- Fellow senior Sarah Wheeler, a native of Hudson, Michigan, was the next Royal to finish in a time of 31:53, good for fourth place.
- First-year Anna Rondema, hailing from Portland, Oregon, made her EMU debut, clocking in at 32:22 and finishing fifth.
- Emilee White, the senior from Bassett, Virginia, rounded out the Royals' lineup by finishing the course in 37:32 and placing 10th overall.
What's Next
The EMU women's triathlon team will head to Virginia's state capital of Richmond for the Robious Landing Triathlon on Sunday, Sept. 20. The race is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
