BRIDGEWATER, Va.- The EMU Cross Country teams resumed their 2025 schedule on Saturday with a short trip down Route 42 for the Bridgewater Invitational at Bridgewater College. For the Royals, the meet doubled as a chance to preview the course for the ODAC XC Championships on Nov. 1.
The young men's cross country team continued to take positive strides forward this fall with a third-place showing in the men's 8k (4.97 miles). For the third meet in a row,
Luke Buckwalter was the first Royal finisher, placing fourth overall.
Gabe Miller of Bridgewater won the men's 8k in a time of 27:16.82, and the host Eagles won the team title with a low score of 21 points.

- Team Score: 67 points (3rd of 5)
- Buckwalter crossed the finish line in an 8k time of 29:04.07.
- Nick Porcaro, a first-year from Charlottesville, ran a big 8k PR time of 30:11.35 on his way to 10th place overall.
- Ethan Kanagy (16th/31:36.38), Samuel Myers (18th/32:09.84) and Ben Huyard (19th/32:09.64) completed the contingent of runners for the Royal men.
What's Next
The EMU cross country teams will lace up their racing shoes again on Friday, Sept. 26 for the JMU Invitational at New Market Battlefield in New Market, Va. The women's 5k gets underway at 5 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 5:30 p.m.
