GREENSBORO, NC - The EMU Women's Soccer team kicked off the 2025 season on Friday, heading south for a matchup against Greensboro College.
The Royals defense was strong in the first half, with keeper
Katie Parks stopping all six Pride shots that came her way. But in the second half, GC was able to find pay dirt, putting up a trio of goals and picking up a 3-0 win.

Highlights
- Greensboro came out shooting, picking up a pair of shots on goal in the games first eight minutes. But Parks, making the first start of her career, made the both saves, keeping Greensboro off the board.
- EMU's first chance on goal came at the 13:48 mark, as Bridget Hay put one on net, but it was saved by the Pride keeper. Hay put another one on net six minutes later, but once again was stymied by the GC keeper. Parks made four more saves over the final 30 minutes of the half, to send the game to halftime knotted at zero.
- Esme Cardoso picked up her first shot on goal just 37 seconds into the second half, but it was saved and the game stayed tied. At 51:51 of the second half, GC broke the scoreless tie, as Shae Brennan's shot got past new goalkeeper, CJ Jefferson, for a 1-0 Greensboro lead.
- Jefferson picked up three saves in the frame, but EMU only had one more shot on goal, another from Cardoso that was hauled in by the keeper. The Pride were able to tack on two more goals: one in the 57th minute and one in the 81st minute, to round out the scoring.

What's Next
EMU will be right back on the pitch on Saturday, when they head to Fayetteville to take on Methodist. Kickoff against the Monarchs is set for 3:00 pm.
