Royals Pick Up Points with Tie at Methodist

FAYETTEVILLE, NC - EMU continued their road trip to North Carolina on Saturday, taking on defending USA South Champion Methodist.

Both defenses stymied both offenses, as a trio of goalkeepers combined for nine saves in a 0-0 tie.

Records: EMU 0-1-1, 0-0 ODAC | Methodist 0-0-1, 0-0 USA South

Highlights
  • Katie Parks picked up her first save just five minutes into the game, on a Monarch shot low and to the middle.
  • EMU's first and second shots came 23:47 and 29:48, respectively, coming off the foot of Bridget Hay. But both were halted by the Methodist keeper, maintaining the scoreless game. Parks picked up two more saves in the half, bringing her scoreless streak to 90 minutes to start the season, as the teams went into the break tied at zero.
  • It was another five save half for the pair of goalkeepers, this time with CJ Jefferson in net for the Royals. It was a mirror of Friday's game, with Esme Cardoso adding two shots on goal in the second half, but to no avail. Jefferson added three saves of her own, including one in the final minute and a half of the game, to secure the tie and pick up a point for the Royals.
Statistical Leaders
