HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Royals welcomed in Guilford for an important ODAC DH on Saturday.
In game one, the EMU bats came alive, scoring multiple runs in four of six innings, as they downed the Quakers 11-4.

Highlights
First Inning
- The Quakers got on the board first, using an infield single, a stolen base, another single and a double, taking a 1-0 lead.
- EMU got the run back, and then some, putting up a four spot in their half of the first. Grace Fravel led off with a single and moved to second on Maggie Mayhew's sac bunt, where she reached on an error, putting runners on first and second.
- Meaghan Dean doubled to right, scoring Fravel and putting Mayhew at third. Destiny Jones followed that up with an infield single, driving in Mayhew and giving EMU a 2-1 lead.
- Madee Arbaugh and Braxten Jones both singled, loading the bases before Aspen Jones drove in a pair of runs, pushing EMU's lead to 4-1 and chasing the Quakers starter.
Second Inning
- Graham sat the Quakers down in order in the top of the first, bringing EMU back to the plate.
- Fravel led off with another single, and moved to second on another sac bunt from Mayhew. Dean doubled again, sending Fravel to third. Destiny Jones walked, loading the bases with just one out.
- Arbaugh walked, plating a run for a 5-1 EMU lead before, after a fly out, A. Jones doubled down the left field line, driving in another two runs and giving the Royals a 7-1 advantage.
Third Inning
- Guilford struck for two in their half of the third, using four hits to cut EMU's lead to 7-3. But with the bases loaded, Graham got two huge strike outs: one looking and one swinging, to keep EMU with a four-run lead.
- The Royals added to their lead with two more in the third, as back-to-back walks, followed by a sac bunt from Mayhew, her third of the day, put runners on second and third. Dean singled, scoring Morris, followed by D. Jones, who hit into a fielder's choice, with Fravel scoring.
Fifth Inning
- Neither team scored in the fourth, but Guilford used an RBI single in the top of the fifth to cut EMU's lead to five.
- That five-run lead was pushed to seven in the bottom of the fifth, when Dean singled up the middle with two outs, got to third on D. Jones' double and they both came in to score on Arbaugh's RBI double down the left field line, putting the Royals on top 11-4.
Sixth and Seventh Innings
- Graham worked around a two-out single in the sixth, and in the seventh, the Quakers threatened, picking up a bunt single and two stolen bases, before a pop out back to Graham ended the game with EMU on top.

Highlights
Second Inning
- Game two was very different from game one, with the first run not coming until the bottom of the second, when D. Jones launched a home run to left, giving EMU a 1-0 lead.
Fourth Inning
- Lambert gave up her first hit in the top of the fourth, a two-run home run to left that put the Quakers ahead 2-1.
- EMU had a chance in the bottom of the fourth, with Mayhew and Dean both singling and D. Jones getting hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. But EMU couldn't push any runs across as GC maintained a one-run lead.
Fifth Inning
- Emerson Adkins led off the fifth with a double and moved to third on a sac bunt from Brooke Morris. Fravel singled up the middle, staying hot at the plate, and scoring Adkins, tying the game at two. Mayhew reached on an error and Fravel got to third, but was stranded there as the Royals made the final two outs, with the game still tied.
Sixth Inning
- Lambert continued to be strong, sitting the Quakers down in order in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the inning, Arbaugh doubled to left and advanced to third on a sac bunt from B. Jones, who reached on a throwing error on the bunt.
- Adkins picked up an infield single to load the bases, before Morris' hit a fly ball to center, which the center fielder dropped, allowing Arbaugh to score and giving EMU a 3-2 lead.
Seventh Inning
- Lambert came back out for the seventh, and made quick work of Guilford, getting a line out, a fly out to center and a ground out to third to wrap up the Royals win.

What's Next
EMU is back in action on Tuesday, when they hit the road and head to Salem for their 2025 road finale. They'll take on Roanoke College in a DH, with the first pitch of game one starting at 5 pm.
