SALEM, Va. – The Royals wrapped up the road portion of their 2025 schedule on Tuesday, making the trip down to Salem to take on Roanoke.
Game one was a pitchers duel through five innings, before the Maroons touched up Royals starter
Natalye Graham for four runs in the bottom of the sixth, to pick up a 4-0 win.

Highlights
Third Inning
- The Royals picked up their first base runners of the game in the top of the third, as Aspen Jones stayed hot at the plate, singling down the right field line. She moved to second on a ground out and Brooke Morris walked, putting runners at first and second. A fielder's choice got A. Jones out at third, to keep EMU off the board.
Fourth Inning
- Once again, EMU had a chance to push across runs in the top of the fourth, as Meaghan Dean led off with a single, but her pinch runner, Gracie Conner, was thrown out on a fielder's choice by Destiny Jones.
- With D. Jones at first, Braxten Jones and A. Jones both picked up singles, loading the bases, but a strike out ended the threat, keeping the game scoreless.
Sixth and Seventh Innings
- The Maroons plated four runs in the their half of the sixth, using a walk, two singles, a wild pitch, an error and a two-run home run, to take the lead.
- In the top of the seventh, A. Jones notched her third hit of the game and Maggie Mayhew followed, reaching first on an error. A ground out pushed the runners to second and third with just one out, but the Maroons starter finished the game with a strike out and a ground out to secure the win.

EMU vs Roanoke – Game Two

Highlights
Third Inning
- After neither team were able to push anything across in the first two innings, Mayhew led off the top of the third with a solo home run to left, giving EMU a 1-0 lead.
- That lead was short lived, however, as the Maroons used eight hits to plate seven runs, six of which were charged to Lambert and one to Graham, who replaced Lambert in the middle of the third, taking a 7-1 lead.
Fourth and Fifth Innings
- The Royals would put runners on second and third in the top of the fourth, and load the bases in the top of the fifth, but couldn't push across any more runs, as Roanoke maintained their lead.
- In the bottom of the fifth, RC used two walks, a single, a hit-by-pitch and an RBI ground out, to plate two runs and pick up the eight-run mercy rule win.

What's Next
EMU will wrap up the 2025 season on Saturday, when they welcome in Randolph College to Gehman Field. Prior to game one of the doublheader, which will start at 1 pm, the Royals will celebrate their four seniors: Graham, Conner,
Emerson Adkins and
Grace Fravel.
