LAX Falls to Bridgewater in Route 42 Rivalry

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Royals returned to action on Wednesday, making the short trek to Bridgewater to take on the Eagles. 

BC's defense was strong, holding EMU to just one goal, as Bridgewater picked up a 19-1 win.

Highlights

First Quarter
  • Bridgewater got on the board just 27 seconds into the game, taking a 1-0 lead after winning the opening draw. 
  • Cristal Narciso picked up her first save at the 12:30 mark, keeping EMU within one. She would add six more saves in the opening frame, but Bridgewater was able to add seven more goals in the first. 
  • EMU got on the board late in the quarter, after two green cards gave EMU a two-man advantage. Angel Hines took a pass from Ava Walker and buried her shot past the Eagles keeper, giving Hines her ninth goal on the season. 
Second Quarter
  • Narciso added three saves, a caused turnover and a ground ball in the second quarter, and the Royals defense held BC to just three goals. Unfortunately, EMU's offense couldn't find paydirt, with Courtney Crawford picking up EMU's only shot on goal, a save by the BC keeper. 
Second Half
  • Amber Bonds and Ainsley Clark each put shots on goal in the third quarter, but both were saved. In the fourth, Crawford added another shot that was saved by the Eagles keeper, to keep EMU at just one goal. 
  • Narciso added six more saves across the third and fourth quarters, pushing her total to 16, a season-high for the senior.

What's Next
EMU will wrap up the road portion of the regular season on Saturday, when they head to Salem to take on Roanoke College. Opening draw against the Maroons is set for noon.
