Highlights

First Inning

  • Grace Fravel led off with a double in EMU's half of the first and moved to third on Allana Overby's single to left. After a fly out, Overby stole second, putting two runners in scoring position. Destiny Jones' sac fly plated Fravel, and sent Overby to third, for a 1-0 EMU lead.
  • Overby scored on a wild pitch, giving EMU a 2-0 lead. Madee Arbaugh walked, advanced to second on an error and came in to score on Emerson Adkins' RBI single to left, extending the Royals lead to 3-0.
Second Inning
  • After Graham went 1-2-3 in the second, EMU was able to add two more after Brooke Morris drew a one-out walk and came around to Fravel's monster home run to right, pushing the Royals lead to 5-0.
Fourth and Fifth Innings
  • Averett was able to cut into the Royals lead in the fourth and fifth, using two singles and a fly out to plate their first run, cutting EMU's lead to four. Then, in the top of the fifth, a single, sac bunt, a fielding error, a throwing error and a single led to two more runs, as EMU's lead shrank to 5-3 after five.
Sixth and Seventh Innings
  • Graham was able to keep the Cougars at bay in the top of the sixth, to keep the lead at two. In the bottom of the sixth, Overby walked and got to third on a double from Meaghan Dean. D. Jones drove Overby in on a sacrifice fly to center field, giving EMU an insurance run and a 6-3 lead.
  • In the top of the seventh, back-to-back singles and a fly out to right, put runners on second and third and brought the tying run to the plate. After another fly out gave EMU two outs, a fielding error plated a pair, followed by a walk that put the tying run on second and the go-ahead run on first. But Graham got a big strike out, her fifth of the game, to end the threat and secure the Royals win.
