WINCHESTER, Va. - With the regular season finale just a week away, the Royals played their penultimate midweek game, taking on the Hornets of Shenandoah University.
The Hornets used a balanced offensive attack, scoring four goals in the first half and three in the second half, to pick up a 7-1 win over the Royals.

Highlights
- SU's offense came out shooting, putting five shots on goal in the first 15 minutes, but they were all saved by keeper Katie Parks. The Hornets broke through in the 16th minute, pulling ahead 1-0. They added a second goal less than two minutes later, pulling ahead 2-0 through the first 20 minutes.
- In the 24th minute, Shenandoah tacked on a third goal, but on the ensuing kickoff, Bridget Hay took a pass, dribbled around a defender and fired a shot on goal. It bounced off a Hornet defender and past the goalkeeper for Hay's fourth goal of the season. Parks added one more save in the period, but SU was able to add one more score, which came in the 39th minute, to lead 4-1 at the break.
- The Hornets added goal number five early in the second half, just three minutes into the period. The SU defense locked down in the second half, holding the Royals without a shot, while Parks added three more saves to her total for the game. SU rounded out the scoring with goals in the 56th and 67th minutes.

What's Next
