Highlights
- Gracyn Arruda kept the Gophers off the board early in the first quarter, as she turned away a pair of Goucher shots. But at the 5:46 mark of the quarter, Goucher's Kaitlyn Bucci sped up the field and blasted one in from the top of the circle, high and to the left side of the cage for a 1-0 lead.
- After a Gopher foul gave EMU a penalty corner less than a minute into the second quarter, the Royals picked up a pair of shots from Zofeya Maldonado and Kaylin Ozuna, but both attempts were blocked by the Gopher defense. Then, with just six minutes left the half, after Arruda picked up another save, Madison Usher was able to gain control of the ball and put it past the keeper for a 2-0 advantage at the half.
- The third quarter saw both teams shut out as Arruda notched three more saves and Sophia Armato came up with a big defensive save to keep the game at 2-0 heading into the fourth.
- Goucher added an insurance goal less than five minutes into the fourth quarter, for a 3-0 lead. EMU's best chance of the night came two minutes later, when Eve Detter put a shot on cage that was saved by the Gopher keeper, followed by a shot from Katie Tanous that was also saved. Tanous had another opportunity, but this time her shot was blocked, keeping EMU off the board and securing the Gopher win.
