BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Royals opened ODAC play on Wednesday, making the short trip down 42 for the Poultry Road Rivalry.
Unfortunately, it was the Eagles that got the best of the first installment, using five first-half goals en route to a 6-0 win.

Highlights
- BC got on the board in the third minute, after Lyric Birkley's pass found the foot of Katherine King, whose low left shot hit the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. The Eagles continued to push forward, but Aja Laun came up with a save to keep the Royals deficit at one. But in the 8th minute, BC added to their lead off the foot of Laura Narby.
- EMU's best chance came in the 37th minute when Addison Fornadel fired a shot on goal, but it was saved by the Eagle keeper. Bridgewater was able to add three more goals in the half and take a 5-0 lead into the break.
- In the second half, EMU's defense clamped down, holding Bridgewater to just one goal, that didn't come until later in the game. Katie Parks, who came in for the last 24 minutes of the game, stopping two shots for the Royals.
